A taste of Morocco in the heart of Sarajevo

Halal oriental cuisine in a hand-crafted space of mosaic, carved cedar and the quiet song of an indoor fountain — two years of artistry, three floors named for Casablanca, Marrakesh and Fes.

Our Story

A cult Sarajevo restaurant — and a quiet escape into Morocco.

Restoran Maroko is a beloved, one-of-a-kind Sarajevo institution — its Moroccan-inspired interior was hand-carved over two years, every engraving and mosaic detail set by hand. Three themed floors carry the names of Morocco's great cities: Fes upstairs, Marrakesh on the ground floor, and Casablanca below, around a mosaic fountain.

Step in from Ferhadija and you cross into a parallel world of oriental charm — a feeling of leaving Sarajevo for somewhere far away in the Moroccan desert. Reopened in February 2026, Maroko now serves dinners only, with an entirely new food and drink menu — and as a fully halal kitchen with no alcohol, the focus is on craft mocktails, Moroccan tea ceremonies and uncompromising flavour.
